D.A. forms Major Felony Unit

 June 4, 2007

Albany --  The Dougherty County District Attorney has organized a special unit to prosecute suspects in major felony cases such as murder.

Ken Hodges says the Major Felony Unit includes senior assistant district attorneys and investigators. They'll make sure serious crimes are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The unit meets twice monthly, often with detectives from law enforcement agencies to get updates on specific cases.  "Talk about these cases to make sure that they don't fall between the cracks and to make sure everything that we can do and all the resources of the district attorney's office are put behind these cases," said Hodges.

Attorneys within the newly formed unit assist each other in the prosecution of cases.
