Ice cream shop give back

June 2, 2007

Albany-- An Albany ice cream shop is giving back to the community, even though it hasn't been open a year.

MaggieMoo's held its official grand opening Saturday.

The store began operating in December but it wanted to hold a special celebration to thank supporters who have visited them.

They're showing their appreciation by donating 20 % of Saturday's proceeds to the Grace Way Recovery Center.

"I'm a member of First United Methodist Church and we've always partnered with Graceway since it began and we also have one of their residents as one of our employees so we just have a little tie in with Graceway so were proud to do that," says Owner Lew Culpepper.

Miss Albany and Miss Teen Albany stopped by along with the South Georgia Wildcats' mascot to help them celebrate.
