Albany - - Everyone wants a safe environment to work in, but officers say sometimes businesses don't do enough to ensure the safety of its employees.

Friday, the Dougherty County Police Department held a safety in the workplace workshop. The Dougherty County Health Department requested the presentation.

Officers explained the importance of a company developing an emergency plan and employees knowing the components of that plan.

"We all had the scare after 9-11 with the white powder being in envelopes. We responded to numerous locations and businesses and they didn't know how to react to it. You as a business should have a plan on how your employees should react and who they are to contact when these problems happen," says Lt. Tom Jackson.

If you would like a workplace safety presentation for your company, just contact the Dougherty County Police Department.
