WG&L Gas fee dropped

May 31, 2007

Albany - Businesses that use WG&L gas-lines Will soon get a big-break from the utility. board members will drop a tariff on companies that don't buy natural gas from WG&L, but use their lines to transport it to plants.

Businesses like Cooper, MasterFoods, Coats and Clark, and mainly Procter and Gamble have been charged a 1.15% fee for lost gas since July of 2005, amounting to about $400,000 a year. Improvements in the line have made that fee unnecessary and today board members decided it was only fair to pass the saving along to customers.
