Brinson-- One of the fatalities that happened over Memorial Day weekend happened in Decatur County.
Thirty-two-year-old Amanda Regan was killed when she lost control of her truck and flipped on Highway 310.
She wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown out and killed. Luckily, her eight year old daughter, who wasn't buckled up either, survived.
"The amount of law enforcement out on the roadway during the holiday period enforcing the laws like that, word gets out. And I believe that did have a lot to do with it. It's one of those cases where you can't be in all the places all the time. Unfortunately somebody lost their life due to not having their seat belt on," said GSP Craig Singletary.
Relatives say the eight-year-old climbed out of the car and ran to get help for her mom. They were just a few miles from home when it happened.
