Albany man critical after near drowning

May 29, 2007

Albany -- While car crash deaths were down on Georgia roads,  drownings deaths were up. At least four people drowned on Georgia lakes over the weekend.

An Albany man is still hospitalized after nearly drowning in Lake Chehaw Monday. 35-year old Ronald Morgan fell into the water off this dock on Crusoe Village Lane about 6 o'clock Monday night.

Friends say he was trying to help a dog that had fallen into the water when he fell and hit his head on the side of a boat.

Jason and Jeff Cross dove in and pulled Morgan out of the water, but he was not breathing. Brittney Carter performed C-P-R until paramedics arrived.

Morgan's family says he is in an intensive care unit in critical condition Tuesday. Morgan is an employee of Albany Water Gas and Light.
