Crisp County--  Many people enjoyed the holiday fun at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park but some took time to remember the park is there to honor Georgians who have served in the military.

The park has a museum that highlights the service of past and present veterans. Visitors can see memorabilia from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War of 1991. Displays include medals, uniforms and original telegrams.

Many were donated by veterans themselves. The museum gives visitors a glimpse into the true meaning of Memorial Day.

"For a small museum, you would not believe some of the stuff we have here. We have gotten several unique article here and recently we've even had a samurai sword donated to the museum and that's a first," said Park Ranger Mike Goodwin.

Also in the park, you can see several military aircraft and armored vehicles from various service branches. The museum is open between 8:15 and 4:45 daily.  They see their biggest crowds on Veterans Day.
