Albany-  Firefighters say the wildfire conditions in southeast Georgia remain grim. The Albany Fire Department has been rotating crews in and out of the area on a weekly basis.

Over the last week, crews say flames again came dangerously close to homes near Suwanee Chapel Road and Swamp Road in Ware County. Firefighters spent two days trying to protect homes in that area.

"The last two nights we were down there we had three house we were protecting. The first night it was three homes and then it was just two, just like one little area, the second night and we had fire burning on three sides of it," said J.D. Wilson, Albany Fire Fighter.

Six firefighters from Albany continue to lend their support this week in Ware County.
