Lee County Baseball Will Be All-American

May 27, 2007

Leesburg -- The Lee County baseball team is back in the state Final Four for the second time in three years.

The Trojans hosting Heritage in the semifinals Monday.

The Patriots are in the semi's for the third straight season, but have not been able to make it through to the championship game.

Lee County swept East Paulding in the last round, after needing three games against both Northside Warner Robbins and Woodward.

Win, lose, or draw, this will be the last series at home for the Trojans, as the winner moves on to play at either Greenbrier or Marist.

Trojans head coach Rob Williams is expecting another big crowd for Monday's double-header, and says playing on Memorial Day should make it even more exciting.

"What better thing to do on Memorial Day than play a baseball double-header? I don't think anything could be more American. Unless we had some apple pies out here too, and they may show up."

Lee County hosts Heritage in a double-header Monday at 2pm.
