Albany - Albany State fans take pride their athletic department is the best in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Rams tradition of excellence continues after Albany State won the SIAC's All-Sports trophy for a fourth consecutive year.
Dr. Joshua Murfree plans for Albany State's standard of excellence to improve now that he has been promoted from interim to full time Director of Athletics at Albany State.
Dr. Murfree says his plans are for the Golden Rams to win national championships and to improve the academic success of their student athletes.
The biggest thing for the ASU athletic department is the question on who will lead it has finally been answered.
Dr. Murfree said "It settles me down and I think the president for that. It also settles the coaches down around me. They actually know that leader is on deck. So, that when there is something that is going on they can come to me directly at all times."
The athletic year is still not over at Albany State where the track team is competing at the NCAA Division II outdoor meet in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend.
