Youngster shot in abdomen

May 24, 2007

Moultrie -- A three year old boy accidentally shot himself with a gun he found in his Moultrie home.   Around 1:00PM, the little boy shot himself in the stomach. He survived.

We're told he picked up a gun that was lying out in the open at his home on Hutchinson Drive.

Moultrie police don't expect to file charges on the boy's family, but they do warn parents to be careful about leaving guns out, especially with children being out of school.

The three year old was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment.
