Albany-- Local emergency medical service workers are being honored this week as part of National EMS week. Today EMS workers showed off their equipment and entertained kids at the Albany Mall to help promote safety.

Emergency medical technicians say getting out and making the community more aware of what they do is very important. "We do a lot of things, that people don't understand that we do and so we kind of educate the public and let them know what we really are about" said Dougherty County EMT Tammy Atkinson.

Inside the Albany Mall E-M-T's are offering free blood pressure checks to anyone who would like one. National EMS Week runs through Friday.
