Valdosta - The firefighters who've battled the 500-thousand acre fires in South Georgia and North Florida know the battle as Obediah's Last Stand.
Helmet cam footage, shot by a Valdosta firefighter, shows the battle.
The Valdosta team was called to protect structures in Obediah's Okefenok Homestead, a popular attraction near Waycross.
You can see that huge flames completely surrounded them. These firefighters couldn't escape and no one could get in to help them.
The trapped firefighters fought the flames for more than thirty minutes before they creating a path for help to arrive.
They also saved Obediah's from burning down. "I don't know if it was the right place at the right time or the right place at the wrong time but it happened. We went in, did what we were trained to do and everything worked out well. Nobody got hurt and the buildings were still standing,' says Lt. Terry Clark of the Valdosta Fire Department.
The Valdosta Fire Department is currently taking a break from battling the wildfires after sending crews to the frontlines for nearly a month.
