Peanuts ready for home opener

May 23, 2007

Albany - The South Georgia Peanuts will close out their first ever road trip Wednesday in Anderson, South Carolina against the Anderson Joes.

Win or lose, the Peanuts first ever road trip in the South Coast League road trip will be a success since the Peanuts have started the season 5-0.

Of course, Peanut fans want the team to open the season in Albany Thursday night still unbeaten.

While the Peanuts have been winning games on the road, the team's staff has been busy making the final preparations for the first ever home game.

The home opener includes pre and post-game fireworks shows.

General manager Keith Michlig says the demand for tickets is increasing as the home opener draws near. And he says the team's winning streak is helping to drive up ticket demand.

Michlig said "Most of the folks who are coming in to buy tickets are aware of our record. Most of them make some kind of comment congratulating us on how we have done so far."

Keith Michlig advises fans planning to attend Thursday's home opener to buy their tickets in advance at the ballpark ticket office or online.

The Peanuts home opener against Charlotte County starts at 7:10pm at the Paul Eames Complex.
