Thomasville firm announces layoffs

May 23, 2007

Thomasville --  Turbine Engine Components Technologies, a Thomasville manufacturing plant announced they're laying off 70 employees in the next few months.

That's a fifth of their current workforce of 350 people.

TECT manufactures semi-finished, and finished components for aircrafts.  They say the workers being let go have been working on a military program building spare parts for engines on the C-130 aircraft.

That work is nearing completion and the company does not have enough new contracts to offset the end of the C-130 contract.
