Albany --  As the price of gasoline skyrockets, the number of gas thefts from South Georgia stores is growing.

In Albany, gas drive offs are being seen more in Police daily crime logs. Monday morning about 11:45, a man pumped gas at this Flash Foods at the corner of Palmyra and Slappey Boulevard, and then took off without paying.

Clerks would not tell us how much gas he stole, but they described him as an older man who should know better. Police were called and filled out a report.

Several convenience stores around Albany have a pay first policy, making customers pay for their gas before the stores will turn the pumps on.

Flash Foods management has not returned our calls.
