Albany -- An man accused of attempted rape will remain in jail without bond for now.
Forty-nine-year old Lugene Thomas made his first appearance Saturday morning, just hours after police say they caught him in the act of trying to rape a woman in her east Albany home.
Investigators say Thomas forced his way into the house on Florence Drive around 2:30 Saturday morning and attacked the woman who lived there. Neighbors heard the attack, and called Police.
Thomas has been convicted of several simple battery and criminal trespass misdemeanors since 1992, but no felonies.
