Congressmen launches investigation into kidnapping of Miller County man

May 19, 2007

Albany -- While friends and family of a Miller County man captured in Columbia pray he's still alive, local Government officials haven't confirmed whether that's true or false.

Keith Stansell is one of three military contractors kidnapped by a rebel militia group known as FARC.

This week family and friends of the Miller County native heard from officer John Frank Pinchao, who escaped from the prison camp.

He told journalists that Stansell and one other American were still alive at the camp when he escaped.

Congressman Sanford Bishop has launched an investigation regarding the location and status of Stansell.

Bishop made calls to the U.S. State Department and other Washington officials but he hasn't issued any confirmation to the escaped officer's story.

In 2003 Stansell was captured and held hostage after an attempted anti-drug surveillance operation.
