Charges against pastor dropped

May 18, 2007

Albany --  An Albany minister is acquitted of burglarizing a church where he previously worked.   Richard McFarland was charged with taking part in a burglary at Trinity Metropolitan Church in March 2006.

At his bench trial Thursday, the judge said there wasn't enough evidence to convict him and dismissed the charges.

McFarland said, "The Bible says though he slay me, yea I still trust in him. I just continue trusting God and moving on with my life."

Prosecutors expected co-defendant Murray Moseley to testify against McFarland, but he took responsibility for the burglary.

He previously pleaded guilty to the church burglary and several other burglaries and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
