Tifton - While some NASCAR cup drivers have had a hard time slipping into retirement, former NASCAR cup champion Rusty Wallace is not one of them.
Wallace was in Tifton Thursday for a charity golf tournament to raise money for the Georgia Sheriff's Boys and Girls Homes.
Since retiring two years ago as a driver on the Cup circuit, Rusty Wallace has been running the Busch Series team he formed in 2004.
His Busch series driver is his youngest son Stephen who Rusty is grooming to drive on the Cup circuit in the near future.
Steven Wallace has looked good at times this season but is only 24th in the Busch Series standings.
Father Rusty believes his son's results on the track will improve with experience behind the wheel.
Rusty Wallace said "He is only 19 years old. He is the youngest kid in NASCAR matter of fact. It is going to take awhile to get on track where he needs to be. As long as I can keep funding him and keeping him in cars and keeping the cars fixed. Keep him on the track. That is what it is all about."
Rusty Wallace is also now a television anaylst for ABC-ESPN and will be in booth for the Indianapolis 500 next week.
