Large industry opens doors in Lowndes County

May 16, 2007

Valdosta - The company that produces the number one branded fresh buns and rolls sales in the nation has announced they'll be opening a new plant in Valdosta.

Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe announced today that they'll be opening a 220,000 square-foot facility in Lowndes County.

Once opened, they expect to hire at least 100 new employees and keep the job numbers growing as the business expands.  "There will be jobs for different skill levels. Everything from a truck driver to some accounting, IT personnel. And of course, a lot of good production people that I grew up as," says owner James Martin.

The Lowndes Industrial Authority says Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe will become one of the top five industrial investments and wage creators in the county.

They hope the plant will open it's doors in 2008.
