Albany - It is hard to imagine the basketball rivalry between Dougherty and Monroe getting any more intense.
But that just may be the case with the Tornadoes new head coach.
Dougherty High assistant coach Marquis Davis will get his chance to be a head coach.
The Dougherty County School Board Monday night approved the recommendation to hire Davis to be just the third head coach in Monroe High history.
Davis will succeed James Little who is retiring after 20 seasons.
Marquis Davis is the second high school head coach in the family.
His brother Kirven is the head coach at Colquitt County.
The Monroe Lady Tornadoes have a new head coach.
Cheryl Cheeks, who was coaching softball at Dougherty before transferring to Monroe this school year, will be the Lady Tornadoes new head coach next season.
Cheryl Cheeks succeeds Floyd Peterman who is stepped down after this past season.
