Albany -- Chavis McCollister led the way for South Georgia, as the Wildcats defeat division rival Florida 49-38 at the Albany Civic Center Saturday night.
McCollister scoring twice, leading all players with 16 receptions for 178 yards, and was named offensive player of the game.
The Wildcats (4-1, 2-1) held a 33-13 lead in the 1st half, but allowed the Firecats to close it to a 4-point game late in the 4th quarter.
The South Georgia defense would stand strong.
With a minute left, Daryon Brutely makes a big defensive stop on 4th down.
That sets up quarterback D. Bryant to a wide-open McCollister down the middle of the field for a 40-yard game-clinching touchdown.
Bryant hit 27 of 36 passes for 256 yards and five TD's in the game.
Former Wildcat receiver Chris McKinney had 11 catches for 97 yards and two scores for the Firecats in his return to Albany.
The win marks the first time South Georgia has won four games in a season, following back-to-back three-win campaigns.
The Wildcats look for their first road win this week, as they travel to face Arkansas Sunday.
