Crisp County has "Excellence"

May 9, 2007

Cordele - - Crisp County is now a Georgia "County of Excellence."

The Association of County Commissions of Georgia presented a plaque to the Crisp County Commission Tuesday.

Crisp is one of seven counties to receive this distinction. They received the award based on the county's new Data Exchange Program.

That's a computer system that links important information, like jail lists and warrant information, to criminal justice agencies across the county.

Now they can all access the same information on the computers they already use.

"There are very few communities that everyone is on the same system...This allows us to identify the common data elements and we are able to push and pull those data elements into these disparate systems," says Superior Court Clerk Jean Rogers.

Crisp County is working with state agencies to help roll out the system to other Georgia counties who may be interested in the data exchange system.
