Albany - A downtown manager should be on the job in Albany by August 1st. On Tuesday, city manager Alfred Lott told commissioners he's placing ads in national magazines and publishing notices about the opening.

He wants someone with proven experience in economic development and downtown management to come in and hit the ground running. "We have to be diligent so that we get the right person. We're doing a national search so we're looking for the best qualified and person with a proven track record," said Lott.

The downtown manager will also serve as the executive director of ADICA. Members of the ADICA board along with Albany Tomorrow and city staff will select the new downtown Manager.
