Albany - The Deerfield-Windsor golf team has had its share of close calls in the GISA state golf meet in recent years.
The Knights were not brides maids this year in capturing their first state title in five years.
The Knights once again hosting the state tournament at Stonebridge Country Club.
A tough course made even tougher with strong winds.
Deerfield-Windsor survived the tough conditions with Ashton Pellicano firing a 74 and T.J. Mitchell a 75 to lead the Knights with a score of 314.
13 shots better than second place Augusta Prep. Westminster-Augusta finished third.
Deerfield-Windsor golf coach Gordy Gruhl said "Our kids toughed it out and kept plugging away. And that is what you have to do on windy days. 314 wasn't a good score but it was pretty good score today."
Ashton Pellicano It feels good. I wish I hadn't bogeyed the last hole. But other than that if feels good."
Pellicano's bogey at 18 dropped into a tie with Westfield's David Garrett for medalist honors.
Pellicano and Mitchell were among the six players to earn GISA All-State honors.
Ashton Pellicano and T.J. Mitchell were named to the GISA all-state team.
