Valdosta - A Valdosta man is behind bars after police say he stole a car and tried to kidnap the driver.

Investigators say 31-year-old Brian Lee approached 22 year-old Kristen Harrick around 8:00 PM Friday night as she left Colonial Mall.

He threatened Harrick with a knife, demanded the keys to her Ford Explorer and told her to get in the car with him.  "At some point during the incident the victim saw the opportunity to run, actually went back into the store and called 911," says Brian Childress of the Valdosta Police.

Police put out a Kimberly alert for Lee and the stolen vehicle.

Police in Pearson spotted the car Saturday afternoon, pulled Lee over and arrested him.

He was transported back to the Lowndes County Jail where he faces carjacking charges.  More charges may be filed.
