Albany-  Monday an Albany man was charged with the murder of his step-uncle.

Albany Police charged 36 year old Ricky Johnson with murder in the death of 64 year old George Ponder. Ponder who used a wheelchair was found by his girlfriend with his throat cut in his own living room on Shirley Avenue in East Albany April 28th.

Police also charged Johnson with two counts of financial transaction card fraud, but wouldn't say Johnson's motive was money related.

"The motive is unknown at this time we're investigating two or three different possibilities," said Albany Police Chief James Younger.

Johnson is currently in the Dougherty County jail on probation violation charges but will also be charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.
