Albany -- It all came down to one final lap in the GHSA track and field state championships at Hugh Mills Stadium.
Athletes from all over the state descended on The Good Life City for the three day event, with the final action on the track finishing up Saturday.
The girls from Monroe hoped to bring home a state championship in the relay competition.
The Lady Tornadoes placing 4th in the 4X100 with a time of 49.150. Dougherty high school finishes 7th.
Lady tornadoes senior Latricia Jackson also racing in the individual 400, and she places 5th at 57.695 seconds.
Early County freshman Antquinita Reed already had one state championship going into the day, winning the AA long jump Friday.
Competing in the 400 today, Reed uses a strong finishing kick and pulling away from the field in a time a time of 56.751 seconds.
The freshman says she's very happy with the titles and her improving times.
"I felt great about it," says Reed, "because I had shaved some time off of what I ran yesterday."
The freshman finished in 2nd place in the Class AA 200 meter run.
