Thomasville-- Carolyn Clifton was surprised with her class of third graders Monday morning when the superintendent came to Cross Creek elementary to tell her she'd won.

Each school in the county chose a teacher of the year and Clifton won out of all of them.  "We have a lot of great teachers here in Thomas County, so its truly a very humbling experience to be chosen because there's so many great educators here in Thomas county that give a hundred percent or beyond of their time and love to children here," says Clifton.

Clifton has taught math science and social studies for twenty-two years. Now she'll go on to compete for the state teacher of the year.
