Diyala Province, Iraq -- A South Georgia soldier was one of nine members of the 82nd Airborne Division killed Monday during a suicide attack in Iraq.
Twenty-two-year-old Sergeant Randell T. Marshall of Fitzgerald died when two suicide bombers struck the building in Diyala province on Monday, causing it to collapse. Nineteen-year-old Private First Class Ryen King of Bowersville, Georgia was also killed.
Twenty others were wounded in the attack. It was the largest single death toll for the 82nd Airborne since the Vietnam War and marked the single greatest loss of life for American ground forces in Iraq since December 2005.
