Albany - The focus was on education at Wednesday's partners in excellence breakfast. Students and teachers from schools throughout the Dougherty County School System were recognized, including Westover Senior William Griffin. He's one of the many "Kids that triumph" overcoming obstacles and still achieving excellence.
William missed an entire school year and struggled through poverty, but came back to school and made it to the top 10% of his class. He said, "Over the last three years I've had to work up and now I'm in my classes at the top 10% and I'm taking classes at Darton College, so I've finished my first year in college."
William is now trying to figure out just which college he plans to attend, he's narrowing it down right now between Georgia Tech and several other schools.
