Albany -- The Darton College golf team won its sixth-straight conference championship Sunday, beating 2nd place ABAC by 38 strokes at Stonebridge Country Club.
The Cavaliers posted a three-day total of 870.
Cav's sophomore Troy Bartkowitz is the tournament medalist, finishing 6-under par, with birdies on his final two holes.
ABAC's Mitch Baxley is three shots back in 2nd place.
Oliver Turnill is one under par for Darton in third place.
Bartkowitz 2nd shot on 18 was an 8 iron from the fairway that the sophomore stuck right next to the pin for a tap-in birdie, and Bartkowitz says he was very happy with his finish.
"I was pumped up, what can I say?" says Bartkowitz. "Everything was going good. I hit a great drive, and luckily hit a little 8 iron in there and stuck it. It felt great, hearing the crowd, and making the putt on top of that."
Head coach Dale Dover says, "Troy's come a long way. That was a special learning experience. He made triple bogey on number 8 today, and then came back and birdied 9. A year ago he might have turned that into an 80, but not now."
Darton College now moves on to the NJCAA Division II tournament in May, where they will look to win their third straight national title.
Jessie Hodge of Young Harris brings home the women's championship with a three day total of 219.
