Albany-- The American Cancer Society kicked off this weekend's Relay for Life with a survivors' dinner at Porterfield Methodist Church Thursday night. John Dees survived prostate, bladder, and skin cancer. That's not the only reason he supports the fundraiser. "My wife lost her best friend to cancer, and that is one reason we support it, in memory of her, and of course we have other people that are currently survivors," he said.

The Dougherty Lee Relay for life runs from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday at Darton College.
