Americus -- Tornado victims met with state Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine and his staff Tuesday night in Americus for a helping hand.

A couple of dozen South Georgians came to the Sumter County Courthouse to discuss problems with their storm insurance claims. Oxendine met face to face with storm victims to try to help resolve their insurance problems.

Many of their questions were about roof repairs. Oxendine said "I expect a lot of people have issues about roofs and shingles. How much of the roof do you replace? Do you just reshingle part of it. Or reshingle the whole roof? When does it become a whole roof as opposed to a portion?"

Oxendine said considering the amount of damage done in Americus by the March 1st tornado, he  was pleased there weren't a lot of people with problems.

But he said anyone with insurance concerns should call his office.
