The CRCT's are coming!

April 13, 2007

Valdosta - Many students through South Georgia will be held back a grade at the end of the year. It's not because they're dropping out, it's because they couldn't pass the state's standardized tests.

Next week, grades one through eight in Valdosta will begin their Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, or CRCT's.

It seems each year the tests get more difficult and Southeast Elementary is doing all they can to make the grade.

They've done this through inspiring pep rallies and year long preparation activities.  "We have students come in on Saturday for three hours to work on CRCT skills. We also offer an after school reading program on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we have VSU students come in and tutor our students," says Alvin Hudson, Principal at Southeast Elementary.

Valdosta City Schools is also offering practice test on their website.
