Worth County - - A Worth County family had to get rabies shots after a skunk may have put them and their animals at risk.

It happened on the family's farm. A skunk went on the farm and bit the family's puppies, killing one and injuring another.

The family has a large number of animals including horses and goats. Many of those animals were not vaccinated for rabies. Now some of those pets will have to be put to sleep due to the possible exposure.

Health officials haven't been able to positively link the skunk with rabies, but to be on the safe side they are treating the skunk bites as a rabies threat.
