Tift County investigators search for possible skeletal remains

April 11, 2007

Tift County--A mystery near Tifton left investigators working well into late Wednesday night searching for possible skeletal remains in a drug-infested community of Tift County.

GBI agents and Tift County Sheriff's Deputies kept 3rd Avenue blocked off since early Wednesday evening.

In this video, you can see officers digging and searching for evidence behind a home on the street.

So far, investigators aren't saying much about their search.

"We're in the process of serving a search warrant in conjuction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and unfortunately at this point we don't have any other information that we can release," says Major Jason Jones with the Tift County Sheriff's Office.

(Reporter:Are you searching for possible remains?) "I'm not going to comment on any particulars of the investigation," says Jones.

We don't know the details of that warrant.

Investigators will only say there was some evidence that there might be human remains in the area.

They won't tell us yet what if anything they found tonight.
