Albany --  Dougherty County commissioners want to warn property owners to clean them up, or they'll take them down.

One home on Bluebird lane is empty, and the owner has been told to bring it up to code. Otherwise, they'll be taken to court and possibly required to tear it down, or pay for it to be torn down by the county.

Another home on Aristedes Road is also dilapidated and is hurting the image of other homes in the neighborhood.

"All of the sudden someone evacuates their house and it becomes dilapidated and people perhaps would stay there overnight and during the day, they shouldn't be there and we want to be sure that our neighborhoods are safe," said Dougherty County Commissioner Lamar Hudgins.

If the owner of the home does not cooperate and the county receives a court order to tear down the home, the homeowner will still be charged for the expense.
