Cuthbert - - An annual tradition continues in Cuthbert with the sound of music.

Saturday marked the annual Fletcher Henderson Jazz Festival, held at Andrew College. Henderson was an accomplished musician from South Georgia who made it big arranging music and establishing his own orchestra in New York.

The event was dedicated to one of the festival's founders, Dr. T. Marshall Jones, an acclaimed musician himself and cancer survivor.

"Back in 1986 or 1987, I met with Rod Glenn in an east Albany restaurant and we planned this festival on a napkin not realizing that it would be continued to this point, so it's a pleasure to be apart of that and we know that Fletcher Henderson was a tremendous musician, arranger," Jones says.

Congressman Sanford Bishop was on hand to congratulate Jones on the festival's continued success.
