Tallahassee, Fl. - Florida State coach Mike Martin found himself without a catcher on his roster last fall.
Martin thought his shorstop Buster Posey from Leesburg could make the transition and he was right.
Buster Posey's play behind the plate has been so good that today the sophomore was one of 27 college catchers named to the watch list for the Johnny Bench Award.
So far this season, Posey has thrown out more than 40 percent of the runners who try to steal off him.
And the FSU pitching staff has an earned run average of 2.63.
The position change has not hurt Posey's offense. The former Lee County Trojan is batting over 380 and leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in runs batted in.
