Valdosta - Lowndes hosting their annual Georgia/Florida challenge which pits the top high school teams in both states this weekend.
Before the Vikings game with Pace-Florida on Friday night, Lowndes honored their 1981 team which won the school's first state baseball title.
Back then, state champions didn't get rings like today's schools do.
So, 26 years after that historic win, the 1981 championship team was back at the field named after their coach Noel George.
George and the players finally got their well deserved jewelry.
Of course the many players on that Viking team didn't have a lot of time to celebrate their championship clinching win in 1981 because they had another important event to attend.
Second baseman Tony Bowden said "It was fun to win the state in baseball. Run in there and get dressed and graduate in the same day. That is what baseball is all about."
Lowndes' annual Georgia Florida baseball challenge runs through Saturday in Valdosta.
In other games on Friday, Russell County, Alabama beats Lee County 3-1.
Fitzgerald beats Worth County 9-2.
Southland wins on the road at Sherwood Christian 7-3.
In college baseball, Middle Georgia beats Darton 14-3.
Georgia squeezes by Auburn 4-3.
Georgia Tech shuts out Boston College 10-0.
Florida State is still unbeaten after an 11 inning 7-6 win over Wake Forest.
And in Statesboro Georgia Southern defeats Lipscomb 9-1.
