Americus-  An Americus native, now an NFL football star, returns home to do what he can to help in the clean-up effort. Leonard Pope, the former Americus High and then Georgia Bulldog All S.E.C. Football player, was born at Sumter Regional Hospital.

Friday, the Arizona Cardinals Tight end returned to his birth place to survey the damage. Pope toured the temporary emergency center and signed some autographs. He plans to help raise money for the relief effort by holding a basketball tournament.

"Any little thing, you know even if it's a smaller thing even like having a basketball game, you know having some of my former teammates at Georgia or some of my current teammates right now, but we're going to try and get that done, in the future, try and get some money raised," said Leonard Pope, Arizona Cardinal's tight end.

Last week, Pope attended Jerry Dukes funeral. Dukes was one of two people killed in the Americus tornado.
