Americus NHRA motorcycle team optimistic about the 2007 season

March 15, 2007

Americus -  The NHRA rolls into Gainesville, Florida this weekend for the Gatornationals.

The Gatornationals are the third race on the schedule but the first for the pro stock motorcycles.

The Americus-based Bryce-Smith pro stock motorcycle team believe driver Chip Ellis' third full season on the circuit will end with a season championship.

After having problems with red lights in his first season, Ellis backed off a bit too much to insure a clean start last year.

2007 has started off great for Ellis and the Bryce-Smith team.

They won the Harley Drags in Gainesville two weeks ago and last week they won the pro stock bike competition at the Eastern Spring Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil.

Co-owner George Smith said "This is the year to put it all together. The testing we have done the past week has shown that. He (Ellis) has ridden unbelievable well."

George Smith will take over the reigns of the Chip Ellis team this year because his partner George Bryce will work as the crew chief for a motorcycle owned by Karl Klement and driven by Peggy Llewellyn.

The Klement team will use the V-twin Buell engine designed by Bryce and Smith.
