Albany - One of the few bright spots in last year's three win season for the South Georgia Wildcats was the play of quarterback Julian Reese.
And the versatile signal caller who led the Arena 2 Football League in rushing is returning to the Wildcats.
Reese has signed a contract to play for the Cats but the deal still has to be approved the league office.
Something that is expected to happen before training camp officially opens on Tuesday.
Reese started the 2006 AF2 season in Everett and was traded to the Wildcats in May.
He played in 12 games and threw 49 touchdown passes and ran for 9 touchdowns.
This season he will be reunited with offensive coordinator Rickey Foggie and receiver Chavis McCollister.
The trio led Amarillo to the AF2 playoffs in 2005.
Reese will have to fight to keep the starting quarterback job.
The Wildcats will open camp with AF2 veteran D. Bryant and former Fort Valley State quarterback Cecil Lester from Vienna already on the roster.
The Wildcats will have a scrimmage March 17th at the Albany Civic Center against the Alabama Steeldogs and will scrimmage at Tennessee Valley on March 23rd.
The regular season opener for the Wildcats is March 31st at home against Arkansas.
