Power failure in NW Albany

March 9, 2007

Albany -- Much of northwest Albany was without power early Friday afternoon.   A meter burned out at the Stuart Avenue substation.

It operates three circuits, so about 2,500 customers lost power.

It was hazardous driving at some of the city's busy intersections while traffic lights were out. People weren't following the rule that intersections should be treated as four-way stops when traffic lights aren't working.

Power was off for 41 minutes.
