Wildcats ready to open what should be a spirited training camp

Albany - The South Georgia Wildcats are ready to start a new season with a virtually a new team.

The Wildcats are reporting for the start of training camp on Thursday.

The team will have physicals Friday and a three day mini-camp starting Saturday.

The first official training camp practice is Tuesday.

New head coach Derek Stingley is ready to see all of the talent he worked so hard in the winter to sign on the field.

Stingley says it should be a very heated training camp with so many talented players competing for starting jobs.

Derek Stingley said "It is going to be one of those camps where truly the best man wins. And the guy who may take the back up role, we may have to make decisions on those guys because they are good enough to be starters somewhere else."

The Wildcats will scrimmage the Alabama Steeldogs March 17th at 7:30pm.

The scrimmage is free to season ticket holders and sponsors.

Everyone else will have to buy a ticket for the exhibtion.

The regular season starts at home on March 31st against the Arkansas Twisters.
