Acree -- An Acree church is destroyed, but not because of the tornado. A fire destroyed New Mount Olive church early Thursday morning, hours before tornadoes hit South Georgia.
The church is located off Highway 82 and Henry Road. The fire destroyed everything in the building, from music equipment to church supplies.
"Many times many people give up after an unfortunate event like this. Its easy to throw in the towel and just to quit, just to say all hope is gone. But we have an encouraged congregation. They're men and women of God, men and women of faith and were going to do whatever it takes to start over," said Pastor Marcus Harper.
The church celebrated its 100th anniversary last November. Members worshipped at this location for the last 32 years. The church will meet on 1st and 3rd Sundays at Bright Morning Star church off U.S. 82.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
