Albany -- The South Georgia Wildcats are ready to kick off a new season, and held their first annual Wildcats Bash at Loco's Restaurant Tuesday night.
The Bash allowed even the youngest fans a chance to come out and meet the Wildcats players, coaches, and even the dance team.
The Cats have high expectations this season, with a new coaching staff and many new players.
The front office is very happy with the continued community support, as fans showed up in large numbers for the bash.
Wildcats head coach Derek Stingley says he was always well aware of the teams fan support while coaching against South Georgia, and is glad to be on the Wildcats sideline.
Stingley says, "Here in South Georgia I've been an opponent for two years, and now I'm glad to be the coach of this team, because coming down here is was tough playing in an environment like this, with all the fans screaming and yelling and the band playing, it was one of those atmosphere's where I always said, 'My goodness, I wish I had this support,' and now I have the opportunity to have it."
The Wildcats open their season at home March 31st against Arkansas.
