Americus -- More than 100 inmates from the Sumter County Correctional Institution were part of the clean up crews in Americus Monday. Department of Corrections officials say many more trustys from prisons around the state will arrive in Americus Tuesday to help with the clean up.

Officials want to reassure people that you are safe. These are minimum security inmates and guards are with them.

There were also groups from the Sumter County jail and probation doing work around Americus today to help get the community back on its feet.
